07 December 2015 - The ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) kept busy during the month of November with activities aimed at promoting ASEAN awareness and solidarity in Egypt.

During its semi-annual Out of Cairo Meeting in Ain Sokhna on November 18, the ACC met with Suez Governor El-Araby El-Serwi, who provided a briefing on investment opportunities in the Suez Governorate. Aside from the mineral, energy and shipping sectors, the Suez Governorate also hopes to attract investments in tourism with its scenic stretch of Red Sea coast.

The ACC also organized an ASEAN Badminton Tournament at the Nasr City Sporting Club in Cairo on November 28 to foster camaraderie among member embassies. Participants in the doubles tournament displayed impressive skill and sportsmanship, with the Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo sweeping the men’s and women’s categories.

The ACC is comprised of the embassies of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam in Egypt. END
