10 December 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Athens sent a consular team to Cyprus from December 05 to 06. This was the last of the quarterly consular outreach program conducted by the Embassy for the year.

The outreach program coincides with the official visit of Philippine Non-Resident Ambassador to Cyprus Nestor Z. Ochoa, who presented his letters of credence and recall to the Chief of Protocol of the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and paid a courtesy call to other officials of the Cypriot MFA.

The seven-member consular team included POLO, OWWA, and Pag-IBIG representatives. It was conducted in close cooperation with the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Nicosia and with the assistance of some members of the overseas Filipino volunteers in Cyprus.

The consular team processed a total of 284 passport applications and miscellaneous services (reports of birth and marriage, affidavits and certifications).

The POLO and OWWA representatives processed 36 Overseas Employment Certificates (OEC), 63 membership, and 78 documents verification of OFWs in Cyprus.

The team conducted consultations with the Filipino community on dual citizenship, change of status for Filipinas married to Cypriot nationals, registration of births and marriages, OWWA’s membership and Overseas Employment Certificates (OEC), as well as contributions to Pag-IBIG, OWWA, etc.

One OFW applied for reactivation of her overseas voters registration. END
