11 December 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok hosted a cocktail reception in honor of Thai Alumni of Philippine Universities and Colleges, on November 25 at the Embassy grounds. In her welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Mary Jo A. Bernardo-Aragon encouraged the guests to revisit the Philippines to see and experience the country’s tourist destinations and also assess business and investment opportunities.
Ambassador Bernardo-Aragon also received members of the Philippine Alumni Association in Thailand (PAAT) headed by Mr. Supien Sutthanurak. PAAT members shared with the Ambassador their upcoming activities and projects on cultural promotion and people-to-people exchange.
Representatives of the Philippine Department of Tourism (Kuala Lumpur Office) were also present at the event and to give away brochures and materials on the Visit the Philippines Again 2016 campaign. At the Embassy’s invitation, the Daloy Dance Company also performed at the reception. The dance company was formed by artistic director Ms. Ea Torrado in April 2014. They have performed in venues such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines, PETA Centre, and in major events such as the Fete de la musique in Intramuros, the National Book Development Board, and in Mt. Malasimbo for the Mt. Malasimbo Lights and Dance Festival. The dance company was in Bangkok to participate in an art festival organized by Thonglor Art Space.
