JAKAR FEST

14 December 2015 - The Philippine Embassy was invited as one of four diplomatic missions to participate in the Sesparlu International Maritime Culture Festival organized by the Senior Diplomatic Training Program of the Center for Education and Training of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia on  December 3, 2015 at Caraka Loka Building, Center for Education and Training compound, Senayan. The embassies of China, Iran and India were also invited at the event.  The participation of diplomatic missions included setting-up of a booth to showcase national costumes, products, local food and short presentation.

The Philippine booth showcased tourist destinations and festivals, products, costumes and offer guests with Filipino delicacies. Two students from Bina Nusantara University (BINUS), Mr. Thomas Noto Suoneto and Ms. Desi Hapsari, modeled the Philippine National costumes.

The event included a talk show on Preserving Indonesia’s Maritime Culture and Heritage by Indonesian Foreign Affairs officials, movie screening, cultural performances and fashion show.  It was participated by Foreign Service trainees and Indonesian International Relations students from different universities and colleges in Indonesia, local artists and businesses.
