14 December 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi proudly announced that a Filipino group performed in shows organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development (MCYCD) of the United Arab Emirates, as part of the 44th UAE National Day celebrations.

Upon the invitation of the MCYCD to the Philippine Embassy, the latter endorsed the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mangaawit at Mananayaw sa Abu Dhabi (OPMMAD) to represent the Philippines for the cultural performances.  OPMMAD, an organization accredited to the Embassy, is composed of Filipino singers and dancers in Abu Dhabi.

OPMMAD performed two dances, namely, the Singkil (Maranao dance) and Sayaw sa Banga (Igorot dance), in each of the shows staged on December 1 at The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residence in Dubai, on December 2 to 4 at the MCYCD premises in the emirates of Ajman, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain, and on December 5 at the Sahara Mall in Sharjah.

Ambassador Constancio R. Vingno, Jr. expressed his deep appreciation to Chai Raagas, Chairman of OPMMAD, and the members for their voluntary participation in the five-day performance tour across the UAE, and for tirelessly supporting the programs of the Embassy.  END.
