HK CONCERT

16 December 2015 - The 2015 edition of the much anticipated “Concert in the Park,” with the apt theme ‘Beat Is On,’ was a smash hit. Nine bands bringing together Filipino and foreign artists gave solid performances that were much applauded. Some 3,000 spectators filled the Hong Kong Cultural Center Piazza C on December 06, where they gamely danced and sang along to the performances. A lot of fans stayed for the duration of the six-hour show.

This annual fiesta of spicy live music has been around for 29 years. It is the product of the very dynamic partnership of the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Musicians Union (HKMU), and the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). The partners are already looking forward to the milestone 30th edition of Concert in the Park next year.

The nine-band lineup assembled by HKMU for the 2015 edition are: AMUSIKA, D’bloodFunk, Mishmash, Black Widow, Call of Duty, STACS, 852Blue, T4 Band, and Salvaje-Afro Brazilian Percussion Ensemble. Emcees Michael Vincent and Jun “Tita Kerry” Paragas added delight to the program with their witty and funny antics. DJ the Big Jay also displayed his music-mixing talent during breaks between performances.

This year’s concert was made possible by the generous sponsorship of HK-based companies and individuals, namely: URC Hong Kong Co. Ltd, Barkadahan sa Smartone, Pinoy Tayo SanMan, Prime Credit, Social Security System, Mr. & Mrs. Rubin Benny Dollano, AFREIGHT (Asia Pacific) Limited, Gen-Ex Cargo, LBC Mabuhay HK Ltd., Jollibee Hong Kong Central, BDO Remit Limited, BPI Remittance Centre (HK) Ltd., Metro Remittance (Hong Kong) Limited, Philippine National Bank, RCBC Telemoney, BP Musang International Martial Arts Society and Pinoyshots Photography Club HK, and The Filipino Channel.
