HK EXHIBIT

16 December 2015 - The Philippine Consulate General brought the Colors of Freedom exhibit to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) for a month-and-a-half long display from December 08 to 31 January 2016. Aptly titled, "The Story of the Making of the Philippines - in Flags and Maps," it aims to drum up interest in the University’s planned launching of a course on Philippine Studies in 2016.

The exhibit was put up in cooperation with and through the valuable support of the CUHK Library headed Louise Jones, Department of History Head Professor T.L. Fok, Department of History Faculty Professor Ian Morley, and Filipino author Ms. Nelly Fung.

Professor Morley added another dimension to the exhibit by lending his personal collection of maps, ancient and contemporary, of the Philippines and its neighbors. Ms. Fung also graciously loaned some of her books on Philippine History and Culture. As part of the activity, Ms. Fung is also scheduled to deliver a lecture in January 2016 about the book authored by her late father, Ambassador Marcial P. Lichauco, on the Japanese occupation of the Philippines.

Philippine Consul General Bernardita L. Catalla was the keynote speaker at the official launch of the exhibit on December 08 at the CUHK Library. She thanked the University, among others, for giving the Consulate the opportunity and for providing an excellent vehicle by which the Consulate General could reach out to more people and share the story of a great nation – the Philippines.
