17 December 2015 – The Philippine Embassy announced on December 16 that it will be serving the members of the Filipino Community in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan region of Iraq as part of its last consular outreach mission for the year.
“The Embassy is conducting these outreach missions regularly to allow us to not only serve the consular needs of our kababayans in Iraq but also to listen to whatever concerns they may have,” said Chargé d’Affaires Elmer G. Cato.
In addition to passport renewals and issuances, Charge d’Affaires Cato said the Embassy’s consular team will also be accepting visa applications from Iraqi nationals planning to travel to the Philippines.
The consular outreach in Erbil is scheduled on December 26 at the Jouhayna Hotel while the outreach in Sulaymaniyah will be on December 28 at the Mamuzen Hotel.
The Embassy regularly conducts consular outreach missions to serve the estimated 2,000 Filipinos working in Iraq, majority of who are based in the Kurdistan region. END
