21 December 2015 - Upon the invitation of Xavier School of San Juan International Programs Coordinator John Michael Cuepo on December 04, Philippine Consul General Olivia V. Palala met a group of 150 grade 10 Filipino-Chinese students from the said school, who were on a one and a half month study tour/ immersion program in Kunming, Yunnan province.

During the meeting with the students, Consul General Palala spoke on the role of the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing and shared her experiences as a Philippine diplomat who has been posted to many different parts of the world, including the challenges/difficulties she faced during her foreign assignments.

The Consulate General also conducted a consular outreach mission, followed by a Christmas party, with the members of the Filipino community in Yunnan Province on December 05 in Kunming.

The Consulate General delivered the following services during the consular outreach:

  • six consular registration IDs issued
  • four Tax Exemption Certificate issued
  • four Taking of Fingerprints for NBI Clearance
  • two Passport Applications
  • 10 Overseas Voters ID released
  • three Acknowledgement of contracts 
  • One-on-one consular consultations

The Christmas party in Kunming was a potluck event that started with the Opening Remarks of Mr. Gilbert Utica, the coordinator of the Kunming Filipino Community (KFC), followed by an inspirational message from Consul General Olivia V. Palala who expressed gratitude for the attendance of the members of the Filipino community in these events, which happen at least twice a year, and are co-organized by both the Consulate and the KFC. Consul General Palala invited them to reflect on the spirit and true meaning of Christmas and the reason for its celebration.

About 50 guests from different districts of Yunnan Province attended the gathering, with many of them bringing along their families.  Some of the Filipinos also invited their Chinese friends and colleagues to share the Christmas spirit with them. END
