11 January 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo C. Santos hosted a dinner for the Heads of Missions of the ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD), together with the South African Ambassador, at the Official Residence on January 04. The Ambassadors were also accompanied by their respective spouses.

Aside from fostering goodwill among his ACD counterparts, the dinner also served as a farewell dinner for Indonesian Ambassador Mr. Deddy Saiful Hadi, who recently turned over his duties as ACD Chairperson last December and is scheduled to conclude his tour of duty in Doha early this year.

“Since I started my diplomatic career in Kuwait, I have had the pleasure of crossing paths with you in San Francisco and now here in Doha. I am deeply saddened by the fact that you will be leaving our esteemed group, but at the same time I am happy that you are about to start a new chapter in your life,” Ambassador Santos said of Ambassador Hadi during the former’s welcome remarks.

The ACD is composed of the Ambassadors of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. The ACD was established on  December 12, 2011 and its purpose is to foster camaraderie among the different ASEAN missions in Doha and promote ASEAN awareness and understanding in Qatar. END
