19 January 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Singapore convened the first Filipino community (Filcom) meeting for the year 2016 on January 16, at the public area of the Philippine chancery along Nassim Road.
During the meeting, Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio A. Morales thanked the Filcom leaders and representatives for continuously working with the Philippine Embassy in promoting the Philippines which contributes to the strong relations between the Philippines and Singapore. He also commended the Filcom leaders for their help in looking after the welfare of Filipinos in Singapore and back in the Philippines. He asked Filcom leaders to encourage those who have registered for overseas voting to cast their vote early during the voting period in Singapore for the Philippine national elections to avoid congestion.
During the meeting, officials of the Philippine Embassy and the attached agencies provided updates on developments in their respective sections. Filcom organizations and other entities were also given the opportunity to announce their upcoming activities. As practiced in the past, the Filcom meeting started with the “Kapehan sa Embassy,” supported by PNB Singapore, and adjourned with the networking lunch courtesy of the Philippine Overseas Labour Office/Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO/OWWA).
The Filcom meeting is held once every two months alternating with the Post- Arrival Orientation Seminar organized by POLO/OWWA. The next meeting will be held in March. END
