20 January 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo C. Santos, together with Deputy Head of Mission Gonaranao B. Musor, Third Secretary Kristine F. Bautista, and Attaché Vanessa K. De Castro, made a courtesy call on Dr. Mohamed Bin Abdulwahid Al-Hammadi, Qatari Minister of Education and Higher Education/Chairman of the Supreme Education Council (SEC) on January 18.
Both officials committed to continue discussions on the long pending Agreement on Education Cooperation with the goal of signing it hopefully within the year.
Ambassador Santos also informed Minister Al-Hammadi of a proposed visit to Qatar later this month by officials from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) to discuss, among others, the accreditation of Philippine degrees in Qatar, particularly those of engineering professionals. Minister Al-Hammadi warmly welcomed the visit of CHED and PRC officials.
The Ambassador also took the opportunity to reiterate the invitation of CHED Chairperson, Dr. Patricia B. Licuanan, for the Minister to visit the Philippines and see firsthand the Philippine education system, as well as visit selected Philippine colleges and universities. END
