03 February 2016 – Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Jose D.R. Burgos met with Governor Marconi Ferreira Perillo Junior of the State of Goiás, Brazil on January 28 at the state capital of Goiania to discuss plans to send a Brazilian business delegation to the Philippines led by the Governor, among others.
As part of the celebrations to mark the 70th Anniversary of PH-Brazil Diplomatic Relations this year and under the ambit of Brazil-Philippines Business Cooperation Forum established in Brasilia on October 22, 2015, the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia is organizing a Brazilian Business Delegation to the Philippines to be led by Governor Perillo in November 2016.
With its GDP among the highest in the country, Goiás is one of the fastest growing states in Brazil with an interesting mix of agricultural, industrial and services sectors. The Philippines’ main imports from Brazil, such as soybeans, beef and iron, can be found in Goiás. Moreover, the State has gold, leather, precious and semi-precious stones, all potentially complementing the creative industry and other businesses in the Philippines.
The State of Goiás is strategically located at the center of Brazil and known as the second largest producer of generic medicines in the country. Other industries in the state include aviation and automotive manufacturing. JBS, the largest meat processing company in the world in terms of sales, was established in Goiás. END
