03 February 2016 - Chairperson Patricia B. Licuanan of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) undertook a two-day official working visit to Qatar to discuss matters related to education cooperation as well as the accreditation of Philippine degrees in Qatar.

The Philippine delegation included Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Acting Chairperson Angeline Chua Chiaco and CHED Officials Atty. Julito Vitriolo and Atty. Lily Freida Milla.

Chairperson Licuanan also took the opportunity to reiterate her invitation to the Qatari Minister for Education and Higher Education to visit the Philippines to continue discussions on the pending agreement on Education Cooperation, to visit selected Philippine higher education institutions, and to see firsthand the Philippine education system and the regulation and licensing of various professions in the country.

Both officials committed to continue the negotiation on the pending MOU on Education Cooperation with emphasis on mutual recognition of degrees based on outcomes-based criteria and measures. END
