19 February 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon, as part of its efforts to promote awareness on the Philippines and the Filipino people, formally handed over Philippine cultural items to the National Museum in Nay Pyi Taw on February 13.
The cultural items, received by Daw Soe Soe Win, Director of the National Museum, included a wooden bust of Dr. Jose Rizal, T’boli hegelung (two-stringed lute), tikog mat, Ga’dang textiles, tingkop (rice seedlings basket), and Philippine terno.
It is hoped that the cultural items provided by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), which will be put on display at the ASEAN Hall of the National Museum, will contribute to a greater understanding of the Philippines and the Filipino people and bring closer the Philippines and Myanmar in the context of an integrating ASEAN region.
