22 February 2016 – Philippine Ambassador to Yangon, Alex G. Chua, congratulated Cardinal Charles Maung Bo, Archbishop of Yangon, for a successful visit to Cebu as Papal Legate to the 51st International Eucharistic Congress held from January 24 to 31.
During the meeting, held at the Archbishop’s Residence on February 17, Cardinal Bo said he was overwhelmed by the hospitality of the more than 350,000 Filipinos that attended the mass for the opening of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress. He recalled thanking the Philippines during his homily as “the only place that welcomes our (Myanmar) priests and laity with open arms…for the last five decades.”
Ambassador Chua thanked the Cardinal for his kind words on the Philippines and the Filipinos.
