The event, organized by Philippine Consul, a.h. Dr. Mario de la O Almazan, together with his supportive spouse, Ms. Carolina Quevedo de la O, was held at the La Cabana Restaurant in Acapulco. The occasion celebrated the strong bond of friendship that exists between the Philippine Embassy in Mexico, represented by Ambassador Dilem, and officials from the State of Guerrero represented by Mexican Foreign Ministry official, Lic. Jorge Aceves Rojas.

CANACO Acapulco (Cámara Nacional de Comercio Servicios y Turismo de Acapulco or National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism of Acapulco) officials, represented by its President Lic. Raúl Iracheta Montoya and chamber officers, Lic. Alfonso Abarca Rodriguez and Lic. Javier Saldivar Rodriquez, were present for the gathering as part of the private sector contingent. Former Acapulco City Mayor Mr. Raul Iracheta also took the opportunity to participate in the meeting.  Friends of the Philippine Embassy from the cultural sector of Guerrero also offered their well wishes.

All those present were one in praising the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Mexico for their tireless dedication in raising the cultural and historical awareness of Mexicans on Philippine affairs, specifically in matters related to the Manila-Acapulco Galleon.

For his part, Ambassador Dilem expressed his appreciation to those present for their unwavering support to the programs of the Philippine Government in the State of Guerrero. He emphasized the importance of Acapulco to his country, given the long historical link between the Philippines and Mexico. He ended his message by informing the guests that the cultural undertakings of the Philippine Embassy in Mexico would not have been as successful if not for their invaluable cooperation. END
