29 February 2016 – Joining the nation in the commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of EDSA Revolution on February 25, the Philippine Embassy in Dhaka invited the Filipino community to a flag-raising ceremony held at the Philippine Chancery grounds. The program was attended by Embassy officers and staff, their families, and members of the Filipino community who took time to drop by the Chancery for the celebration before heading to their respective workplaces.
Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo urged everyone to remain steadfast as they strive to keep the Filipino spirit ignited and intact in whatever they do and wherever they are. He also expressed his appreciation to the Filipino community for their presence at the event.
In relation to the recent program of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, the “I AM FOR PEACE” campaign which seeks to build a strong constituency supporting the government’s efforts in achieving a just and lasting peace for the Philippines, the Philippine Embassy in Dhaka deemed it fitting to launch the campaign at the EDSA Day celebration.
Ambassador Bandillo introduced to the community the “Postcards for Peace” online photo contest where those interested are asked to take a photo or selfie of the “Postcard for Peace,” which will be given to them for free, with their message answering the question, “What can you contribute to Peace?” It has to be uploaded in social media platforms of the “I am for Peace” campaign to qualify for the contest.
To kick off the campaign, Ambassador Bandillo took a selfie with everyone in attendance posing their big smiles and hand-heart gestures at the background. The celebration ended with a salu-salo of coffee and pastries. END
