The Fun Fair, graced by 15 orphans from the Myo Myanmar Youth Development Centre, an orphanage managed by U Thet Lwin and his Filipino spouse, Ms. Maritess Lwin, was attended by nearly 300 Filipinos and their Myanmar friends. It was a celebration of the exceptional friendship between the Philippines and Myanmar through performances and games. Booths featured Philippine cuisine - sorbetes, dinakdakan, laing, itlog na maalat, embotido, menudo, and adobo - and Myanmar (Kachin) traditional specialties. Third Story Project, a local storytelling group, entertained the children with stories written by Myanmar authors. Mr. Mandrake Palabay, winner of the logo making contest, was also recognized during the program.
The Philippines and Myanmar formally established bilateral relations in 1956, 8 years after Myanmar’s Declaration of Independence. END
