24 September 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Port Moresby conducted a consular mission to Honiara, Solomon Islands on September 18 to 19. The consular team was headed by Consul Pablito A. Mendoza and Rhoderick B. Bodino, Consular Assistant. The mission was undertaken by the Embassy upon the request of twenty-six (26) OFWs in Solomon Islands whose passports were stolen during a robbery at their company’s office in Honiara.
Through the Filipino Community in Solomon Islands (FILCOMSI), Filipinos in the Solomon Islands needing consular services were advised to meet with the consular team.
A total of forty-eight (48) passport applications were received and processed, including those of the 26 OFWs who lost their passports. The team also provided notarial services (authentication of employment contracts, marriage contracts, and issuance of affidavits of support and consent). The team also fielded queries on consular matters from the Filipino community.
In the evening of September 19, the night before departure for Port Moresby, Ambassador Bienvenido V. Tejano, who was also in Honiara attending the 2013 Pacific Tuna Forum, Consul Mendoza and Mr. Bodino attended a meet-and-greet with the Filipino community hosted by FILCOMSI. END
