07 March 2016 - More than 200 Filipinos coming from various Filipino Community organizations in Brunei joined the Filipino Community contingent to the parade during the 32nd Brunei National Day held at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saiffuddien on February 23, which showcased traditional Filipino attires.
The “Generasi Berwawasan” (Generation with a Vision) – themed event saw a total of 21,000 participants from 126 groups from the uniformed personnel, government agencies, schools, non-profit organizations and community associations patriotically waving the national flag as they marched past the Royal Dais.
The main highlight of the ceremony is the field performance done by the youth who represented various secondary schools, colleges and higher education institutions with the “Generasi Berwawasan” performance. The field performance ended with every performer and participant of the 32nd National Day uniting on the field.
Charge d’Affaires, a.i. Melvin C. Almonguera represented the Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam in the row of the diplomatic corps at the VIP area witnessing the parade.
The Embassy closely worked with the Filipino Community and coordinated on the Filipino Community’s participation. The Embassy also formed committees for its personnel to facilitate the Filipino Community’s involvement. END
