24 September 2013 - Ten teams from six ASEAN embassies in Ankara competed for bragging rights as top keglers during the 2nd ASEAN Diplomats' Friendly Bowling Tournament held at the Rollhouse Bowling Center in Bilkent, Ankara on September 14.
The Philippine Embassy in Ankara organized the tournament as Chair of the ASEAN Ankara Committee (AAC) for 2013.
The ASEAN Heads of Missions, namely Indonesian Ambassador Nahari Agustini, Malaysian Ambassador Dato Saipul, Philippine Chargé d' Affaires Senen T. Mangalile, Singaporean Chargé d' Affaires Lorling Lee, Thai Minister Counsellor Kangthong Somphong and Vietnamese First Secretary Dong Houng Bao rolled ceremonial balls to open the tourney, which saw 40 bowlers playing three games for the highest team gross score to determine who reaches the final round.
Two teams from the Indonesian Embassy and one team from the Malaysian Embassy tried to outclass the competition during the final game.
Indonesia's Team 1 emerged as Champion, having piled enough pinfalls to distance itself from first runner-up Malaysia, whose 441 gross for the final round brought it on top of third-placer Indonesia 2.
Bringing home the trophies as individual highest scorer were Ms. Dyah Lestari from Indonesia for the Ladies' Division and Mr. Warso Sastro, also from Indonesia for the Men's Division.
The tournament was organized to promote camaraderie among ASEAN-member diplomats in Ankara and to foster close relationship among those in the ASEAN diplomatic community. END
