09 March 2016 - 46th Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines General Hernando Iriberri, paid a courtesy call on Consul General Mario L. De Leon, Jr. at his office on February 29. He was in New York City after a visit from Haiti relating to Philippine participation in UN Peacekeeping Operations (PKO).
Assuming office on July 10, 2015, General Iriberri was previously Commanding General of the Philippine Army from 2014 to 2015. A native of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur, General Iriberri is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy and has been in active service with the Philippine Army since 1983. Over the years he has taken leading roles in the military campaigns against the Communist and Islamic insurgencies in the Philippines. He has been awarded the Distinguished Service Star and the Military Merit Medal. END
