09 March 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, headed by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Melvin C. Almonguera, attended the launching ceremony of the Brunei International Trade & Consumer Exhibition (BITC) 2016 on February 27 at the Bridex Halls 1 and 2 in Jerudong. Vice Consul Almonguera visited the Philippine booths along with Dr Hj Abdul Manaf Hj Metusin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), who was the Guest of Honor for said event.
The Philippine Embassy assisted 20 Philippine exhibitors during the exhibition which was held from February 27 to March 02. The products featured in the Philippine booths included handicrafts and bags made of abaca and waterlily, herbal soaps and cosmetic products, and local food items such as bottled bangus and sardines, salted eggs, herbal coffee, and noodles made of squash and moringa (malunggay).
The BITC is a trade fair that serves as a platform to link local and foreign businesses while giving companies from overseas an opportunity to explore the Brunei market. Over 100 international exhibitors took part in this year’s exhibition. The next BITC will be held on August 30 to September 03, 2017 at the same venue. END
