09 March 2016- The Philippine Consulate General in Macau SAR, in celebration of Women’s Month, organized a two-part seminar focusing on health and wellness for Overseas Filipinos (OFs) in Macau. The seminar was held on March 06 at the St. Joseph the Worker Activity Hall in Iao Hon, Macau.

The seminar was conducted by Dr. Michael Manio (MD, MHPED, PhD) from the University of Hong Kong and focused on cardiovascular health and other ailments usually encountered by OFs. After the informative and lively lecture, an open forum was facilitated which allowed the attendees to seek advice on some health issues.

OWWA, SSS, and Pag-IBIG membership services, as well as Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) issuance, were provided at the duration of the activity. Volunteer nurses provided free blood pressure check-ups during the event as well.

Apart from promoting physical wellness, the Consulate General also encouraged financial literacy with SSS Representative Ms. Rea Balicas providing an overview of SSS programs and services prior to the lecture of Dr. Manio.

The Consulate General will hold the second-part of the seminar on March 13 which will focus on coping strategies and stress management for OFWs. END
