09 March 2016 - The personnel of the Philippine Embassy in Oman, including representatives of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Social Security System (SSS), participated in a brief seminar on Climate Change conducted by Mr. Mike Medina, a Volunteer Climate Reality Leader and administrative staff of the Environmental Science section of the Department of Applied Sciences of the Higher College of Technology in Muscat. The seminar was held at the Embassy’s Sentro Rizal last March 07.
The seminar conducted at the Embassy complemented the upcoming Climate Reality Leadership Corps training in the Philippines from March 14 to 16, which is part of Climate Reality Leadership Corps’ (CRLC) “The Climate Reality Project.” CRLC was founded by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore.
Mr. Medina, a trained member of the CRLC, presented key issues underpinning climate change, the possible consequences, and policy and management options for mitigating climate change. He noted as well how evidence of climate change can be found in several parts of the world, including in Oman and the Philippines.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Medina enjoined the Embassy personnel to take part in raising awareness on climate change. END
