10 March 2016 - The Governor of the State of Colima Lic. José Ignacio Peralta Sánchez, along with the State of Colima’s Secretary for Economic Development Engineer Carlos Domínguez Ahedo and the Secretary for Tourism César Castañeda Vásquez del Mercado, welcomed Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Catalino R. Dilem, Jr. and the ASEAN Ambassadors in Mexico to a meeting held at the City of Comala, Colima. 

In his message, Governor Peralta informed the ASEAN Envoys that, with the signing of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), the State of Colima is ready for the projected increase in activities as a result of the agreement. He would like to intensify interaction with the ASEAN representatives in Mexico in order to enhance cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of Mexico and the member countries of ASEAN,  in relation to the TPP. Both sides agreed that with one of the most important ports in the Pacific basin being located in Colima, the Port of Manzanillo will certainly be a factor in the increase in trade cooperation in the future. 

Ambassador Surasak Chuasukonthip of Thailand, as Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City, conveyed to Governor Peralta that the ASEAN Embassies in Mexico will always be available to conduct trade and cultural exchanges with the State of Colima. END
