15 March 2016 - The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco concluded a consular outreach mission from March 12 to 13 at the Filipino American Legion Hall Post 604 in Sacramento, and the Seasons Marketplace in Milpitas.
The nine-person team led by Vice Consul Carlyn A. Monastrial, was able to process two hundred forty-nine (249) passport applications, one hundred forty-five (145) legal documents, and fifteen (15) civil registry documents. Forty-two (42) people applied for dual citizenship retention with nine (9) minors as derivatives.
The consular team was assisted by community members led by Dr. Tony and Ms. Remy Solomon of Bayanihan of Sacramento, and various organizations such as the Philippine Fiesta Newspaper & Magazine, Filipino Community of Sacramento & Vicinity, Magellan Post 604, and Maharlika Lions Club. The outreach in Milpitas was hosted by Seafood City, and the Team was assisted by a group of volunteers from X-Clusive Marketing.
Both Sacramento and Milpitas are home to about 70,000 Filipino-Americans.
