15 March 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Rome conducted a briefing for 21 students from De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde. Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco discussed the three pillars of Philippine foreign policy and the status of the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Italy.
During the briefing, Ambassador Nolasco explained how the Embassy carries out its mandate in the preservation and enhancement of national security, the promotion and attainment of economic security and the protection of the rights and the promotion of the welfare of Filipinos overseas in Italy, Albania, Malta and San Marino.
He underscored that the Embassy supports the Department of Foreign Affairs’ mandate to advance the interest of the Philippines and the Filipino community in the world community.
The Ambassador also highlighted the robust bilateral relations between the Philippines and Italy stating the numerous cooperation of the two countries in various fields.
The students who are majoring in Consular and Diplomatic Affairs have expressed keen interest on how Embassies work and how they implement the Philippine foreign policy. They also conveyed their interest to join the Philippine Foreign Service.
The students are on a study tour in Rome to attend a Model UN Conference which is scheduled to be held from March 14 to 18. END
