25 September 2013 - Commissioner Eduardo U. Escueta of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) headed the Philippine delegation in the 9th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (9th AMMTC) and related meetings held from September 16 to 18 in Vientiane, Laos. 

The Philippine delegation was composed of officials from the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC), Philippine National Police (PNP), National Inter-Agency Task Force against Trafficking of the Department of Justice (IACAT-DOJ) and Philippine Center on Transnational Crime (PCTC).

The 9th AMMTC meeting was officially opened by Lao Prime Minister ThongsingThammavong, ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh and Heads of Delegations of ASEAN countries plus China, Japan and Korea on September 17 at Don Chan Hotel.  Lao Minister for Public Security Dr. ThongbanhSengaphone chaired the meetings.

The meeting reviewed the outcomes of the 8th AMMTC held in Indonesia in 2011 and considered future cooperation in fighting transnational crime in eight key areas, namely, illicit drug trafficking, trafficking in persons, economic crime, arms smuggling, fraudulent travel documents and illegal immigration, sea piracy, cybercrime, and money laundering.  END
