28 March 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to Austria Maria Zeneida Angara Collinson handed over the chairmanship of the ASEAN Vienna Committee (AVC) at its 36th meeting on March 23 to Ambassador Viet Anh Vu of Viet Nam.
Ambassador Angara Collinson thanked all the members of the AVC for their support and expressions of appreciation for the Philippine chairmanship. She likewise thanked all the AVC members for their robust and positive engagement, noting that ASEAN has made itself relevant in Austria.
Ambassador Vu of Viet Nam pledged to foster close cooperation among the AVC members during Viet Nam’s chairmanship.
A priority of the recently concluded Philippine chairmanship of the AVC in the last six months was raising the ASEAN profile in Austria and strengthening cooperation among ASEAN resident embassies in Austria with the host government and UN agencies.
The ASEAN Vienna Committee consists of the Ambassadors of the Philippines, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam and the Deputy Permanent Representative of Singapore based in Vienna. END
