05 April 2016 - The resident Chiefs of Mission of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam which, together with the Philippines, comprise the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) hosted Philippine Ambassador to Mexico José Eduardo A. de Vega to a welcome lunch on March 31 to mark his arrival in Mexico earlier in the day.
On hand to receive the country´s newly-arrived Ambassador were Amb. Yusra Khan of Indonesia; Amb. Mohammad Azhar Bin Mazlan of Malaysia; Amb. Surasak Chuasukonthip of Thailand; and Amb. Le Linh Lan of Vietnam.
The event was celebrated at the Warung Makan, a cozy Indonesian restaurant located at the Roma Norte district in Mexico City.
Amb. de Vega discussed with his ASEAN counterparts on how they may be able to effectively promote stronger Mexican relations with the ASEAN as a whole and with its individual member-countries in the political, economic, socio-cultural and other fields.
At the conclusion of the welcome lunch, Amb. de Vega paid a visit to the human-size monument of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, a prominent landmark along the idyllic Paseo de la Reforma avenue in the heart of Mexico City.
Amb. de Vega had arrived at the Benito Juárez International Airport on an early dawn flight on the same day. At the airport Official Lounge, he was warmly greeted by Embassy officials and the Mexican Foreign Ministry´s representative, Lic. Joshua Aram Castro Ricardez, Chief of the Department for Condecorations of the Directorate-General for Protocol. He later inscribed a message in and signed the Book for Distinguished Guests.
From the airport, Amb. de Vega proceeded to the Embassy chancery where he joined its personnel and their spouses in a hearty breakfast salu-salo and discussed plans and activities for the Embassy in the service of the Filipino nation. END
