05 April 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Narciso T. Castañedaassumed interim chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Muscat (ACM) during the 20th ACM meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel Muscaton March 28. The 20th ACM meeting was also hosted by the Philippine Ambassador.
The Indonesian Ambassador, H.E. Musthofa Taufik Abdul Latif, requested for a deferment of his ACM Chairmanship because he just recently arrived in Muscat to assume his posting as the new Indonesian Ambassador to Oman. Because of this, the chairmanship was handed over to the Philippines.
Outgoing ACM Chairman Dato’ Dr. Awang Haji Besar bin Haji Abu Bakar, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam, formally handed over to the undersigned the ACM documents and gavel to symbolize the transfer of chairmanship from Brunei to the Philippines.
The hand-over ceremony was immediately followed by the 20th ACM meeting chaired by Ambassador Castañeda. END
