05 April 2016 - In line with its commitment to provide services to Filipinos in the Cantons of Geneva and Vaud, the Philippine Consulate General in Geneva continued with its initiative of providing consular services to them on scheduled weekends.

The Philippine Consulate General’s Open House this year started last March 20, where around 30 Filipinos availed of various consular services, such as passport renewal and filing of reports of birth and marriage, among others.

Three Filipinos applied for dual citizenship and took their oath, administered by Consul General Enrico T. Fos.

The “Open House” also featured an open forum entitled #Talakayan: The Rights of Filipino Women, Migration and Labor, in line with the celebration of Women’s month.

Consul General Fos also encouraged Filipinos who visited the Consulate and those who attended the open forum to vote in the upcoming national elections. He announced that from April 09 to May 09 the Consulate’s voting center would be open for Filipinos to vote.

“We are committed to raising awareness on the significance of overseas voting, and we continue to encourage our kababayans to exercise their rights to vote in the upcoming elections,” said Consul General Fos.

The Consulate’s “Open House” was an initiative started in May 2014, opening the Consulate on scheduled weekends to enable Filipinos who cannot leave their jobs during weekdays to avail of consular services. END
