08 April 2016 - On April 06, Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Eduardo Jose A. de Vega presented the open copies of his Letter of Credence and those of the Letter of Recall of his predecessor, Ambassador Catalino R. Dilem, Jr., before Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Claudia Ruiz Massieu Salinas at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores).
During the simple handover ceremony, the undersigned signified that it was an honor and privilege for him to be able to serve as the Philippine Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Mexican States, and conveyed his sincere wishes and those of the Philippine Government for the continued strengthening of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu noted the deep historical and cultural ties that unite the Mexican and Filipino peoples and said that she looks forward to more cooperative engagements between the two countries in the years ahead. She noted the special friendship between the Presidents of both countries.
The Mexican Foreign Minister was with the official delegation of President Enrique Peña Nieto when he conducted a State Visit to the Philippines on November 17, 2015.
Also on hand at the presentation ceremony were Director General for Asia-Pacific Ambassador Alfonso de María y Campos Castello and Deputy Director General for Protocol Ambassador Juan Carlos Cué Vega. END
