12 April 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Singapore began the first day of overseas voting for the national elections in 2016 with a simple flag-raising ceremony led by Ambassador Antonio A. Morales, deputized personnel of the COMELEC, as well as the first voters and other invited guests from the Filipino Community in Singapore.
During his opening remarks, Ambassador Morales welcomed the first voters to arrive in Singapore, and encouraged them to tell their friends to come out and vote early, either through personally coming to the Embassy, or to send a request for a postal ballot, with their complete name, address and date of birth to the Embassy via This email address is being protected from spambots. The Ambassador also informed the first voters that Singapore has the second-highest number of voters in the Asia-Pacific region, with a total of 83,726 registered. He hopes that with the active participation of the community, there will be a high turnout of voters in this coming election. END
