13 April 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam participated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) Family Day Commemorating the ASEAN Community held on March 20 at Taman Rekreasi Kampong Parit.  The event was attended by MOFAT officials and personnel, together with their families, as well as the ASEAN Embassies in Brunei, and representatives from the rest of the missions.

The guest of honor was Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, MOFAT’s Ambassador-at-Large.  She was accompanied by her husband, Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Aziz, the Principal of Royal Customs and Protocol.

The Embassy displayed crafts and products in the booth assigned to it, which was designed to showcase the festive disposition of Filipinos.  Pictures of Philippine tourist destinations were displayed, together with Filipiniana clothing.  The Embassy personnel offered Philippine delicacies, like kakanin, pansit, and ice cream, to those who visited the booth.

The Embassy personnel and their family members participated actively in the parlor games prepared by MOFAT.  Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Meynardo LB. Montealegre joined the tug-of-war team of the ASEAN Heads of Missions, which played against the team of MOFAT senior officials.

The event proved to be a very important gathering for MOFAT, and ASEAN Embassy officials and family members to be acquainted with each other, as well as the respective countries’ cultures – food, products, and other crafts, among others.  Likewise, it was an occasion to further develop camaraderie between MOFAT and the ASEAN Embassies, as a concrete gesture of ASEAN community-building.  END
