Budapest  ASEAN bowling tournament

27 September 2013 – Philippine Ambassador to Hungary Eleanor L. Jaucian and the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Budapest formed the team that won the first prize in the First ASEAN Bowling Tournament held at the Mammut Bowling Center in Budapest on September 08.

Budapest  ASEAN bowling tournament2The tournament was held as part of the ASEAN Embassies’ commemoration of the 46th Founding Anniversary of ASEAN.  The tournament included the five resident ASEAN Ambassadors in Hungary: Indonesian Ambassador Maruli Tua Sagala, Malaysian Ambassador Dato Kamilan Makson, Philippine Ambassador Eleanor L. Jaucian, Thai Ambassador Sompong Sanguanbun and Vietnamese Ambassador Ngo Duy Ngo, together with their respective Embassy officers and staff.  The Ambassadors started the tournament with the ceremonial ball roll.

The tournament consisted of three 10-frame games, with five members per team.  Indonesia placed second followed by Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand.

Philippine Consul General Patricia V. Barrera served as the emcee.  It was a good opportunity to strengthen ASEAN ties in Hungary, as well as forge closer cooperation between the Embassies’ staff and families.  The Ambassadors agreed to hold similar activities in the future. END
