14 April 2016 – The Philippine Consulate General in Osaka welcomes its first overseas voter, Mr. Christopher V. Garces. He hails from Shigino-nishi, Osaka.

A resident in Japan for more than 20 years, Mr. Garces claims that this is the first time that he is voting at Post and is also his first time to use the Vote Counting Machine (VCM). The father of five also indicated that the perceived  disorder he witnessed in the Philippines everytime he went home for a visit and his desire to change that situation to have peace and order are the main reasons that prompted him to go out and vote.

There was no incident or problem with the election process on the first voting day. Although there was no watcher or members of the media present to witness the first day of voting, the members of the Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEI) were ever active in the conduct of their duties.

Majority of those who availed of the first voting day live in Osaka.
