Focused Group Discussion on Enterprise Development for Women, March 22

The Philippine Embassy organized a focus group discussion on business development and export and trade promotion with the theme “Empowering Women, Empowering Lives through Enterprise Development.” The Embassy invited Commercial Attaché Althea Karen Antonio of the Department of Trade and Industry, who is based in Berlin, to speak with women entrepreneurs on enterprise development. The group discussion attended by seven Filipina community leaders is part of the Embassy’s financial literacy program to promote the culture of savings and investments for Overseas Filipinos.

Workshop on Migrant Women, March 30

A Workshop for Migrant Women was held at the Philippine Embassy’s Mabini Multi-purpose Hall. The Philippine Embassy invited Ms. Marketa Hronkova, Director and National Coordinator of La Strada Czech Republic, and Mr. Petr Chmeliar, a lawyer from the Legal Department of the Association for Integration and Migration (Migraci) to lead a workshop on topics including rights and duties of female migrant workers, information on immigration law, and information on domestic violence and redress. The speakers answered questions concerning immigration and labor laws. The workshop was tailor-fit for Filipino household service workers, massage therapists, domestic partners and spouses based in the Czech Republic to promote their rights and welfare.

The Philippine Embassy in Prague will continue to promote women’s rights and welfare through various activities and events throughout the year 2016. END
