20 April 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Oslo commenced the month-long Overseas Voting (postal mode) for qualified overseas Filipino voters in the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden on April 09 at 8:00 a.m.
The first day of overseas voting proceeded smoothly and without incident.
As of April 09, a total of 96 sealed ballot envelopes were received from overseas voters under Post’s jurisdiction, 95 of which were mailed and one submitted personally.
The first voter who personally handed over her sealed ballot to the SBRCG on April 09 was Ms. Rhoda T. Lagura, a 29-year old au pair who currently resides in Lier, Norway. Ms. Lagura was pleased to learn she was the first overseas voter in the five Nordic countries to personally submit her vote. She also expressed gratitude for the overseas voting process, which gave Filipinos based overseas the opportunity to participate in the electoral process and choose the country’s leaders. END
