22 April 2016 – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah welcomed Dr. Marylendra Aduviso Penetrante, Director/Founder/Case Manager of the Children and Youth Wellness Technical and Advocacy Center in Legaspi City, and Mrs. Florelyn Deseo-Felicisimo, OIC Senior Sales Manager of C&E Publishing Inc. in Quezon City, who came to Jeddah to conduct an enhancement training-seminar for faculty members from the different Philippine curriculum schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on March 28 at the International Philippine School in Jeddah (IPSJ).

 

The one-day training-seminar gathered together some 155 representatives of seven (7) Philippine schools in the Kingdom, namely: Al Dura (Gems) International School; Durat Al Sharq International School; Bader International School; International Philippine School in Al-Khobar; Future Generation International School-Riyadh; Al Jazeera International School; IPSJ’s teachers and IPSJ’s Board members and support staff 

 

 

Dr. Penetrante, a licensed professional teacher and renowned psychologist in the Philippines, gave a lecture on “Establishing an Effective Special Education Program for Students in Regular Schools: An introductory Course for School Administrators and SPED Coordinators.” A plenary consultation and questions followed; and the seminar concluded with Mrs. Deseo-Felicisimo and Dr. Penetrante awarding of certificates to the participants.

 

 

Together with IPSJ officials, Dr. Penetrante, and Mrs. Deseo-Felicisimo paid a courtesy call on Philippine Consul General to Jeddah Imelda M. Panolong. Consul General Panolong commended IPSJ’s initiative of conducting educational training for Filipino teachers to help improve teaching skills and techniques. She noted the need to strengthen the capabilities of teachers in the field of special education and the lack of educators specializing in this field in light of the fact that there are special needs students enrolled in the Philippine schools.
