02 May 2016 - Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ezzedin Tago met with Secretary General of the Saudi Council of Chambers (SCC) Engr. Omar Bahlaiwa on April 28 at the Riyadh Headquarters of the SCC.
During the meeting, both exchanged views on potential sectors for bilateral trade, including agricultural products from the Philippines, and promoting the Philippines as a tourism destination for Saudi families. Secretary General Bahlaiwa also noted the possibilities of additional Saudi exports to the Philippines such as fertilizers and urea.
Both officials vowed to promote greater participation of the private sectors from both countries in trade missions to Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.
Secretary General Bahlaiwa lauded the role of Filipino workers in the development of the Kingdom, and said that Filipinos continue to be welcome in the future even as Saudi Arabia moves forward with the implementation of the Saudi Vision 2030.
Ambassador Tago invited the Council and the Saudi business sector to look into business process outsourcing in the Philippines, especially in the non-voice sectors and professions such as engineering, accounting and other services.
Engr. Bahlaiwa and Ambassador Tago agreed that there are several areas which the private sector may consider to improve bilateral trade in goods and services. END
