04 May 2016 - As part of its gender and development (GAD) mainstreaming efforts, the Philippine Embassy in Dili held a briefing on women’s health issues for the members of the Filipino community last May 01.

Dr. Francis G. Saison, a noted Filipino obstetrician and gynecologist based in Timor-Leste, delivered the lecture which focused on the following reproductive health issues of women:  cervical and breast cancer awareness; osteoporosis; menopause; and sexually transmitted infections (STI) affecting women

In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Evelyn D. Austria-Garcia thanked Dr. Saison for volunteering his time and expertise. She also encouraged Filipinos in Timor-Leste to keep an eye on their health.

The Embassy plans to roll out other GAD projects and initiatives for the remainder of 2016. END
