05 May 2016 - The Philippine Embassy in Moscow welcomed the appointment of Erik Gyulazyanas Senior Adviser on Business, Development and Cooperation to the Honorary Consulate-General of the Philippines in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia last month.
“Mr. Gyulazyan is a welcome addition to our Honorary Consulate-General in Armenia and he will work towards building stronger economic ties between the Philippines and Armenia,” Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation Carlos D. Sorreta said. Mr. Gyulazyan was appointed by Mr. Albert Taroyan, the Honorary Consul-General of the Philippines in Armenia.
Ambassador Sorreta is also accredited to Armenia and presented his credentials to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan last year. The Philippine Embassy in Moscow has jurisdiction over Armenia, in addition to Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
Ambassador Sorreta also commended Mr. Taroyan for developing a new webpage with the distinctive domain name, www.philippineconsulate.am. “This new website will serve as an important portal for promoting our economic and cultural relations. We will be able to present to the Armenian people the many opportunities the Philippines presents in terms of trade, investments, tourism and culture,” Ambassador Sorreta said. “I thank Consul-General Taroyan for his many initiatives and hard work on behalf of the Philippines,” Ambassador Sorreta added.
“Mr. Gyulazyan professional background is in diplomacy and economics. He has a wealth of experience in public international organizations, multinational companies and private-public partnerships. He has been senior adviser to the United Nations, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization and the European Union. We can tap all this experience to boost our ties with the people and government of Armenia,” the Ambassador explained.
Mr. Gyulazyan holds a Master’s Degree in International Studies from the Graduate School of Political Science and International Studies (POLSIS), University of Birmingham (UK) and an Economics Degree from the Armenian State Economic University. He was an Executive Education Scholar at the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. He has served as President of Harvard Alumni Association of Armenia. Mr. Gyulazyan was also a Fellow of the Netherlands Institute for International Relations (Clingendael) and a Jean Monnet Scholar. END
