19 May 2016 - A five-member team from the Philippine Embassy in Ankara visited Girne, North Cyprus on May 06 to 08 to conduct its first mission in the country for 2016.

The team provided consular and overseas voting services to 156 clients in North Cyprus. The team processed 147 e-passport applications; released 19 e-passports; and  received 4 civil registry documents, 4 documents for consular acknowledgement, and 149 applications for Embassy ID registrations for Filipinos in North Cyprus. The team also provided assistance-to-nationals (ATN) and consular advice to clients. For Overseas Voting, the team received 92 accomplished ballots and released 35 COMELEC voter’s IDs.

The team also met with Mr. William Gorubat, President, Filipino Community of North Cyprus, together with his officers, on May 08 to discuss how to further strengthen cooperation in assisting Filipinos in need, and to eliminate illegal recruitment, deployment, and human trafficking.

The oath-taking of the officers of the Filipino Community of North Cyprus was held on May 08 led by embassy team leader Roberto Verzosa. END
