01 October 2013 — Philippine Ambassador to South Africa Constancio R. Vingno, Jr. reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that he attended the Annual Diplomatic Briefing for Heads of Mission Accredited to Botswana on September 13 held at the Gaborone International Convention Center in Gaborone, Botswana.
The briefing was given by Botswana President Seretse Khama Ian Khama who was assisted by the senior members of his Cabinet.
In the briefing, Ambassador Vingno and the other Heads of Mission were informed of the economic developments in Botswana and its government’s priority projects, particularly in infrastructure development, health, education, poverty eradication and employment generation, as well as the ongoing drive to improve the business environment and encourage more investment.
During his visit to Botswana, Ambassador Vingno was also able to meet with Foreign Affairs Minister Phandu Skelemani and Foreign Affairs Director for Asia Pacific Amb. Clifford Maribe and discussed pending matters on the two countries bilateral relations as well as cooperation in multilateral forums.
Ambassador Vingno and his wife, Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno, also met with the members of the Filipino community in Botswana and participated in a meeting with them to discuss their planned Filipino cultural night to be held on November 09. END
