23 May 2016 – Philippine Ambassador to the United Kingdom Evan P. Garcia meets with Rick Nimmo, Director of the British Group Inter-Parliamentary Union (BGIPU).
The BGIPU’s priority is to promote and consolidate the UK’s interests abroad and engage Parliamentarians in key global issues. BGIPU membership comprises all members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords who are deemed full members of the BGIPU by virtue of their standing in the UK Parliament.
The BGIPU Executive Committee runs a program of bilateral visits between Westminster and IPU member-parliaments and this year, it included in its program, a visit to the Philippines targeted around the third quarter.
Ambassador Garcia informed Mr. Nimmo that the visit will be an excellent opportunity to further stregnthen PH-UK inter-parliamentary relations, particularly as this year is the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the PH and the UK. END
