25 May 2016 - A Philippine Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) Forum was jointly organized by the Philippine Trade and Investment Centre (PTIC-Sydney), the IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), and Ernst and Young Australia at the Ernst & Young offices in Sydney on May 05.

The Philippine IT-BPM Forum was held in conjunction with the participation of the Philippines in this year’s CeBIT, the largest business technology event in Australia held at the Sydney Olympic Park in New South Wales, Australia from May 02 to 04.

In her remarks at the Forum, Ambassador Minda Calaguian-Cruz encouraged Australian business representatives to look towards the Philippines’ fast-growing IT and BPM sector, which has attracted the attention of global companies. She noted that Australian companies employ about 30,000 Filipino workers in this industry which is equivalent to AUD2 billion in service exports to Australia every year.

During the Forum, Ms. Genny Incencio-Marcial, Executive Director of IBPAP spoke about the growth of the Philippine IT-BPM sector and future prospects. Ms. Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin, Program Manager, ICTO Industry Development Program, DOST, discussed the support extended by the Philippine government to this sector.

Mr. Scott Stavretis, CEO of Acquire BPO, talked about his company’s experience in putting up operations in the Philippines.
