27 May 2016 - The Trade Fair of the 5th Nanyang Culture Festival was successfully launched on April 23 at the Seashine International Mall in Xiamen City as part of the 5th Nanyang Culture Festival. Seashine International Mall is located inside Xiamen’s Pilot Free Trade Zone (PFTZ), where imported goods from all over the world are sold.
A simple ceremony was held to open the Trade Fair which was attended by VIP guests led by Xiamen Vice Mayor Ni Chao, the Consuls General of the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, officials of Xiamen Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (FOCAO) and Xiamen PFTZ. Thai Consul General Tajtai Tmangraks delivered brief remarks on behalf of the organizers.
The Trade Fair had a total of 60 participating booths as follows: 17 from Thailand, 17 from Indonesia, seven from Philippines, six from Singapore, three from Malaysia, two from Cambodia, and three from the Xiamen Free Trade Zone.
The Philippines was represented by the Philippine Tourism Office (PTO) in Shanghai, Philippine Airlines (PAL), Flago Coffe Company, Liwayway Company (Oishi), W.L. Food Products, ADEC Innovation (Online Education), and Ximen New Binnan Company Ltd.
The 5th Nanyang Culture Festival, including the Trade Fair, is co-organized by the Xiamen Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office (FOCAO) and the Consulates General of the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore in Xiamen with the support of other ASEAN Consulates General in China to promote cultural exchanges between China and ASEAN countries.
The Trade Fair provided a platform for business establishments from both Southeast Asian countries and Fujian Province to showcase products/services as well as promote their tourism destinations. END
